Farmhouse Inn: A Luxurious Retreat in the Heart of Sonoma County
One of my favorite things about living in Northern California is the bounty of fantastic inns, resorts, and hotels within driving distance. I've spent years exploring the retreats of Napa county, Carmel, and Big Sur.
There is nothing like finding a new luxurious haven to relax and recharge.Farmhouse Inn, a boutique property in the heart of Sonoma County, had long been on my list of local hotels to try as I had heard wonderful things about both the inn and the restaurant. With our wedding anniversary on the horizon, Brian and I decided to book our retreat for President's Day weekend. We left our home in Granite Bay at around 2p on Friday afternoon and arrived at the hotel a little past 4p.
I was instantly charmed by its yellow barn-like exteriors, fragrant herb and flower gardens and the darling black kitty that accompanied us on our walk from the main lobby to our room. However, once we stepped inside our spacious king deluxe room, I knew I never wanted to leave! It was gray and raining outside and I couldn't be happier! As far as I was concerned, the weather was complying with my wish to spend the weekend reading by the fire. We spent the rest of the afternoon nibbling on delicious amenities (the mini-bar is stocked with savory and complimentary treats!) and enjoying the delightfully plush bathroom complete with a steam shower, heated tile floors, a deep soaking tub and a delightful array of organic bath products. I was in heaven.
The next morning, I woke up excited to try their multi-course breakfast. Their Michelin-starred restaurant is as famous as the Inn itself, so I was anxious to try the food (we also had dinner reservations for later that evening). My decadent chocolate, buckwheat pancakes (served after a first course of fresh pastry) did not disappoint and were filling enough to hold me over until dinner, a multi-course affair that featured local ingredients and creative takes on traditional fare.
We again spent most of the day enjoying the comforts of our room and enjoying our books. However, we did take a brief pause in the afternoon to enjoy the fabulous spa. I enjoyed a deeply relaxing 90-minute warming ginger honey massage while my husband indulged in their multi-treatment option for men.
I enthusiastically recommend the Farmhouse Inn for anyone seeking a relaxing, rejuvenating retreat. As with all Virtuoso properties, be sure to book with me to unlock special benefits, amenities, and added-value.
